I am a compassionate and enthusiastic overseas trained nurse, who is committed to providing person-centered and high standard of nursing care that respects the dignity and rights of patients at all times and passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. I have worked for about 5 years as a registered nurse in the accidents and emergency unit of a tertiary hospital with over 1000 bed capacity.
I have hands-on experience and clinical knowledge in providing safe and effective care for patients from different backgrounds and culture, and can effectively collaborate with other professionals in providing the requisite care for our patients in order to improve their outcome and hopefully decrease the patients’ length of stay at the facility. I am able to accurately tailor nursing care to suit my patients’ needs through accurate assessment, planning and delivery coupled with constant evaluation to meet patients changing needs. I am sensitive to patients needs and always endeavor to include them during the planning of their care. I undertake risk assessment and regular monitoring to prevent and minimize the incidence of accidents and injuries and love to assist patients to perform their activities of daily living. I have knowledge and proficient skills in administering medications via different routes such as intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous and oral and very particular about confirming patient and drug details so as to administer medications rightly to prevent or reduce errors to the minimum. Again, I have had on-the-job training in infection prevention and control, hence, very peculiar attention is paid to that during the provision of nursing care to promote the safety of my patients. I am equally skillful in intravenous cannulation and venipuncture. My experience at the emergency unit has equipped me to prioritize tasks, provide timely but safe care through effective time management and appropriate delegation where necessary. Being a good communicator with a proven ability to listen attentively, understand instructions, give constructive feedbacks and contributions coupled with the ability to maintain a healthy, respectful and professional relationship with colleagues and patients alike makes me a good team player. I am also keen on advocating for the interest and welfare of my patients. I have good IT skills, proficient with the use of excel and Word, and often endeavor to keep accurate data of nursing care. As part of my role as a registered nurse here, I offer guidance and supervise junior colleagues and unqualified staff, assist in managing the ward and ensure effective use of resources. This experience I am sure would come in handy when I need to deputize or lead at any point in my career.
I am willing to work a varied shift, abide by code of practice, that of other standing regulatory bodies as well as the policies of my employer and go through the necessary training to prepare me adequately for my role, work respectfully under supervision till I am declared proficient to work on my own when considered. I hope to harness and advance both my nursing skill and career by ensuring my continuous professional development.
Employing me would mean adding to your register an employee who is reliable, teachable, forward-thinking and innovative, embraces change, willing to contribute to the future success of the institution by living the values of the facility.
I am available for an interview at any suitable time and also ready to start work soon as my employer deems possible.
Looking forward to hearing positively from you.
