Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to apply for the Registered Nurse (or Nurse Assistant / Pflegeassistent) position at your facility. As a registered nurse from Nigeria with specialized humanitarian experience in pediatric nutrition emergencies, I am eager to bring my clinical skills, compassion, and adaptability to Austria’s healthcare system, which I admire for its high standards of patient care and professional respect for nurses.
In my role as a Nurse in the Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centre (ITFC) with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF / Doctors Without Borders), I provided comprehensive, protocol-driven care to children under five with severe acute malnutrition (SAM), often complicated by infections, dehydration, and respiratory distress. I managed stabilization with F75 therapeutic milk, transition phases, and rehabilitation using ready-to-use therapeutic foods (e.g., Plumpy’Nut). My daily duties included:
Conducting thorough patient assessments (vital signs, weight, MUAC, clinical status) and administering medications, intravenous fluids, nasogastric feedings, and respiratory support.
Performing triage, delivering first aid, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (doctors, nutritionists, and local staff) to reduce mortality and ensure timely interventions.
Educating and empowering caregivers (primarily mothers) on feeding techniques, hygiene, and home care to prevent relapse after discharge to outpatient programs.
Maintaining strict infection prevention and control (IPC) standards, accurate documentation, and program data collection.
Training local staff and volunteers on MSF protocols, enhancing team capacity in resource-limited settings.
