I am writing to express my interest in the above-mentioned position, which I learned about through a
referral.
I have 3 months progressive experience training as a Tours Consultant and 9 months as a DMC which has
exposed me to all the core areas and functions of a Tour Consultant including Preparing hotel and tour
quotations for clients, Sourcing and negotiating with hotels to supply competitive yet lower rates, booking
SGR tickets and transfer services for clients, producing flyers to promote selling especially to leisure
clients. I have also held responsibility for replying to email requests and questions to the various corporate
clients I have worked with.
My work experience has been with multi-national organizations often with offices based in Kenya as well
as leisure clients. I believe this has given me the unique opportunity to be both a thinker at strategic
planning in rate sharing and a negotiator when it comes to convincing, we offer the best competitive rates.
It has also given me the experience of working in both extremes which has made me understand the
difference in managing the clients and difference in processing payments.
Due to the nature of the work and training I have had, I have been exposed to diversified environments
that have required me to work both individually and as part of team, under minimal supervision (because
of my supervisors mostly working on group and outbound bookings), while managing a diverse workload
with competing priorities. This has allowed me to improve and sharpen my organization and time
management skills, as well as gain excellent communication and interpersonal skills. I am also an adaptive
learner, able to think fast and open to new challenges and is always looking for ways to ensure we offer
the best service. I believe that in addition to the work-based skills stated above, these are qualities that
would be a great asset for this position.
I believe that this position would also expose and provide me with the necessary challenges to grow as an
individual as well as in my career, while allowing me to work for a company that embodies my current
philosophy about work and the work environment, and at the same time giving me the opportunity to
contribute towards the growth and continued success of the organization.
