I am an internationally educated nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and professional experience across different healthcare settings and countries. I completed my nursing degree in Türkiye, where my education and clinical training were conducted in Turkish, and I later gained professional nursing experience in Kenya and Somaliland.

I currently live and work in Germany. At the moment, I am employed as a Care Assistant in a residential elderly care facility because my international nursing qualification still needs to go through the German recognition (Anerkennung) process before I can work here as a fully recognised registered nurse. I am currently preparing to begin this process and, at the same time, continuing with my German language studies. I have completed A2 German and am currently studying at B1 level, with the goal of progressing to B2, which is required for my professional recognition.

Although my current position in Germany is as a Care Assistant, my professional background is in nursing. I chose to continue working directly in healthcare while completing the recognition and language process because it allows me to remain close to patient care while gaining practical experience within the German healthcare system. In my current role, I support older adults with personal care, mobility and positioning, nutrition and hydration, and other activities of daily living. I also observe residents' general condition, communicate concerns to the nursing team, contribute to documentation and handovers, and work closely with qualified nurses and other care staff.

Before moving to Germany, I gained nursing experience in both hospital and community settings. My clinical experience includes medical and surgical nursing, medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, catheter care, monitoring and assessing patients, infection prevention, patient education and responding to changes in patients' conditions. I have also worked with patients and families in community health and health education, experiences that strengthened my belief that good nursing is not only about clinical competence but also about dignity, communication and understanding the individual behind the illness.

My international background is one of the strengths I bring to healthcare. I have studied, lived or worked in Türkiye, Kenya, Somaliland and Germany and have learned to adapt to different healthcare environments and cultures. I speak English, Turkish and Swahili and am actively improving my German. Having had to learn a new language and adapt to new systems myself has also made me particularly aware of how vulnerable a person can feel when they cannot easily communicate or understand what is happening around them.

I am now looking for an employer where I can contribute the nursing knowledge and practical experience I already have while continuing to develop professionally in Germany. My goal is to complete my German recognition and return to working at the professional nursing level for which I was trained. In the meantime, I am very willing to learn, work within the responsibilities of my current role and gain further experience in the German healthcare system.
