To whom it may concern,

Serving in the United States Marine Corps gave me the opportunity to be a part of a community of changemakers for good. The years I spent committed opened my eyes to the value of cultivating a group mentality. I believe by doing so I was able to put a cause greater than myself to the forefront of how I move and operate. As a Non-commissioned Officer, I was tasked with boosting the morale of my subordinates, checking in on their well-being as well as comprehension of the mission. My duties included streamlining communication from throughout a sector of 200 individuals. I processed data, analytics, arranged logistics, and carried out daily managerial functions and oversight.

My attention to detail transferred over into my work in the civilian world. For over two years, I worked as a Barista at one of the busiest locations in Mansfield, Texas. Before dawn, I would open the store, encourage my coworkers and friends on the other side of the counter. My intention was set to serve. After a few months in the service industry, I discovered how vitally important it was for me to maintain and protect the happiness I was projecting out into the world.

In June of 2017, I began an online blog where I would post weekly commentary on events in the world, ranging from national headlines to think-pieces. Writing gives me a sense of purpose and clear understanding. I have now incorporated it into a daily practice of self-care. I am a more functional person when I have the structure of a schedule in front of me. During my last two years of college, I utilized this revelation and kept a written calendar nearby.

As an aspiring leader in the Anthropology field, I will be able to take my years of training in the military, group cultivation, intentional planning, and hospitality to put into practice. It would be an honor to join your team and continue serving my country.

Respectfully,

Wilfred G Presley
